Sergio Aguero has named John Terry as the best defender he's ever faced, while Frank Lampard, another Chelsea veteran, beats out Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes in the never-ending discussion over England's best midfielder.
Due to a heart problem, the Manchester City great was forced to retire from professional football in December, months after leaving the Etihad to join Barcelona on a free transfer.
Aguero began his professional career with Independiente before joining Atletico Madrid in 2006. But it was at City that he made his reputation, establishing himself as one of the most devastating strikers to ever grace a pitch. Aguero faced a number of the game's top defenders over his trophy-laden career, which included helping City beat Manchester United to the Premier League title on the final day with one of the most memorable goals ever scored, including Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Virgil van Dijk, and others.
Following a question on Twitter, Terry was revealed to be the toughest defender he's ever faced in the Premier League.
Aguero simply replied, 'Terry,' with a grimacing face emoji, when asked who was the best Premier League centre defender he has ever played.
Terry, on the other hand, did not identify Aguero as the toughest attacker he faced in 2015, instead naming Thierry Henry as the man who used to give him 'nightmares.''Thierry Henry would undoubtedly be the most difficult opponent I've faced,' Terry stated in 2015. 'Before I played against him, I used to have nightmares.'
Aguero was also asked who he believed was the best of Lampard, Gerrard, and Scholes, a topic of dispute among England supporters, but the Argentine's selection was clear, considering his prior praise for Lampard.
